From ICT4D.at
Martin Tomitsch is interested in the application of interactive technologies in unsought contexts to improve everyday situations. He received his PhD (Doctor of Technical Sciences) in Informatics from the Vienna University of Technology in 2008. His interests include contextual user studies, prototyping, and user evaluations.
Since January 2009 he works as Lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, where he teaches human-computer interaction and mobile interaction design. He is also affiliated with the DECO group at INSO at the Vienna University of Technology, where he taught user interface design and usability engineering and worked as usability consultant in industrial projects in the past.
He has published at various conferences in the field of HCI and ubiquitous computing since 2004. A complete list of publications can be found at his personal page at INSO. More information about his current activities at the University of Sydney are available here.
In the field of ICT4D he is interested in studying the social impacts of new information and communication technologies and in user-centered design in the development context (UCD4D). Since he has a background in ubiquitous computing, he is also interested in the application of this paradigm in countries, where the availability of computer devices is currently limited to the mobile phone.
On ICT4D.at he blogs mainly about scientific things happening in the ICT4D movement and anything that is related to UCD4D.
