We would like to share what we have built up here at ICT4D.at by providing a solid handbook on how to run a social enterprise with a business plan/structure similar to ours, providing tools on how to easily start up an entrepreneurial idea. We provide solid business processes and how-to's for all the software tools involved. Information on how to manage structural organization and process organization (UML / MDA / OMG compliant) within all the social media integration will be available. With the use of our WordPressMediaWiki integration and theming, plus Google tools and all the other platforms, it is possible to be up and running within 2 weeks. There is also a business plan template included.

Aim of the project:

The aim of this project is to collect different relevant articles about the topic "social enterprise" and how to implement these kinds of special organizations within evolving environments.

The first collection of articles will be published in 2009.

Everybody, who is interested in the topic and has something to say, is welcome to participate.

Brain Storm

make the role "candidate" a official one in the use cases

... rebranding brainstorm slightly before I have to rent out my brain to hetras the next 5 days ...

1. nobody understands the term ICT4D 2. everybody confuses the term 3. we should have a .org domain ... this is much cooler and more findable 4. real world players with huge impact like ken banks or eric hersman never us the term ICT4D= science only ... governmental ICT is only used ...

though i think the label is not bad - for austria - and for funding in austria ... since there is nothing comparable here ---

but our focus and our strength is our international network; we should somehow visualize this network and analyze to find good next steps ... also to ease communication and transparency ....

energy ... like juliana tries with afromusings ... also we now have 2 good contacts to water and sanitation specialists ...

since we have a lot of emails which should go to all of the core team = office, but some of them are urgent resp. have different priority, we should make up a small taxonomy which is very simply to use. i suggest we just put in a simple string in the email body, so everybody can use the filter function of his email client to sort this out correctly ...

i suggest using:

prio_1 OR prio_2 OR prio_3

where prio_1 means the highest priority = urgent and prio_3 the least priority = this has time ...

===============

Google Docs rules

since i see google docs as fixed for our primary document management, i want to propose the following rules ...

- accounts to use when creating and sharing a document: ether we use ALL private gmail accounts of ALL @ict4d.at accounts ... consistency is very important since at least 3 of our members are using/hosting multiple domains at google and switching around is pain in the a** we should just stick to the "private" ones, they are:

please correct this list ASAP ... i dont like the inconsistency in the addresses here, but it is better than the other solution

i suggest for now that all documents are shared with all the office people = founding and directing members

... so when we have project related docs, the no directing people we be additionally added

- ownership

all documents should be only owned by the board ... = martin t, flo or me ... for "word" docs it is easy to transfer the ownership ... the current owner just uses the "Change Owner" feature in the "more action" bar ... since this is not working for spreadsheets right now, the appointed owner just makes a copy owned by him and shares it again; the former owner then has to delete, to avoid confusion by duplicates ...

- duplicates / update

no duplicates ... if someone wants to edit offline, this is not a problem, he/she then can just copy/paste the contents in, but should be aware of the revision history; if someone overwrites something, i will be easy to find this person with the help of the revision history ... the person will the be punished by wearing a moustage for ONE week (this also applies for girls)

note: for offline editing: use google GEARS

- file names

do not use things like "REVISION" "UPDATE" etc in the file names ... since this is all covered with the revision history, meaning: google doc is the primary storage for ALL docs, so if you want to request a revision, just send a mail to all collaborators within the "share" feature ...

no prefix ICT4D needed since you are free to use a tag for that ...

generally, just use speaking names

dont use underlines in the name, unless it is required for the target ...

- quotes which jump out of projects e.g. "We see a accurate map of a country as a public good for the citizens." should be syndicated and be part of the CI
